Juneteenth

Summer Family Fun Fest

Juneteenth, a blend of the words June and nineteenth, is the oldest known celebration commemorating the abolition of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865 enslaved black people in the state of Texas learned of their freedom - two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, June 19th is recognized in 46 of 50 states as a state holiday or special day of observance.

The Juneteenth Summer Family Fun Fest provides an opportunity for the entire community to gather together in celebration of both historical and modern black culture. Families can enjoy a variety of entertainment, quality products from select local vendors, delightful bounce houses, delicious food, and an overall celebration of freedom.  The Hope Center looks forward to this celebration every year. We hope to see you there!

Daughters of the King

Daughters of The King, our annual Mother’s Day Brunch, is a time to honor our mothers. It’s an intimate time for daughters to say thank you to their moms, grandmothers and mother figures for their faithfulness, hard work, dedication and love. To all those who have been mothers, have lost their mothers, or have the opportunity to celebrate their mother presently - we salute and cherish you all. We can’t wait to celebrate more moms in this upcoming program year!

Fall Hope Fest

One of our most festive events, Fall Hope Fest consistently provides asset-based opportunities for sustainable growth and development where children, youth, and families can flourish.

During this delightful time of basking in the warm autumn sun, before the onset of the deep winter chill, youth and families on Kansas City‘s east side enjoy fun games, Trunk-or-Treat activities, friendly costumes, and free food!

The family participation and overall engagement during this event not only provide a safe space for carefree adventure, but also fosters healthy family communication and wholesome interaction with positive adult role models.

Each year, Fall Hope Fest has become an even larger community collaborative. We look forward to showing the same commitment to our families this year.  Come join us!

Tour de Hope-Plain-2.jpg

One of Kansas City's favorite bike rides, Tour de Hope begins and ends at the World War I Memorial. It takes you past many favorite KC landmarks and includes access to our uniquely refreshing SAG stops.  As always, the ride is followed by our popular post-ride party which includes great food, drinks and live entertainment.
