Youth Programs

Our Youth Development Initiatives empower youth through diverse programs, mentorship, and safe spaces that build life skills, creativity, and community connections.
  • S.A.Y. Yes! (K–5th Grade): Mentoring, group counseling, social-emotional yoga, character development, and confidence building.
  • Character-In-Training (4th–6th Grade): Builds leadership, character, positive decision-making, and resistance to negative influences.
  • Junior Leaders-In-Training (7th–8th Grade): Hands-on learning in conflict resolution, time management, personal responsibility, and community service.
  • Leaders-In-Training (9th–12th Grade): Advanced leadership development with career workshops, service learning, and family engagement.
  • Learn To Earn: Paid workforce development teaching landscaping, maintenance, business planning, and work-readiness skills.
  • School Partnerships: Mentoring, games, trivia, and student engagement programs in local middle and high schools.

Community Initiatives

We invest in the health, safety, education, and beauty of our neighborhoods by creating thriving spaces that uplift individuals and families, bringing lasting change to our community.
  • Hope Family Care Center: Affordable, faith-based healthcare for uninsured patients; National Health Service Corps–approved.
  • Benton Community Garden: Fresh produce, sustainable gardening, and a green gathering space for neighbors.
  • Hope Leadership Academy: Neighborhood public charter elementary school founded by The Hope Center.
  • The Gathering KC (Event Venue): Restored historic church for community events, celebrations, and gatherings.
  • Playground & Outdoor Courts: State-of-the-art recreational spaces for children and teens.
  • Affordable Housing – Hope Center Housing: 21 energy-efficient homes providing affordable homeownership for working families.
  • Community Outreach Events: Connecting neighbors through learning, culture, and celebration (e.g., Juneteenth Celebration and Hope Fall Fest).

Adult & Family Programs

Supporting and empowering parents, caregivers, and adults with programs and events that strengthen family relationships, foster engagement, faith, learning, and community connection.
  • Parents as Partners: Tools, relationship-building, and support to empower parents and caregivers.
  • Men’s Fraternity (Age 21+): Holistic development focused on mental, social, spiritual, emotional, and cultural growth through biblical mentoring.
  • Community Events: Designed to enrich, educate, and connect our Hope Center students and families.

The Hope Center KC is a Non-Profit Community and Youth Development Organization which aims to provide asset-based programs and opportunities for sustainable growth and development on Kansas City's east side to flourish. Our vision is to develop healthy communities where the vulnerable can have hope and flourish.

The Hope Center KC primarily serves children, youth and families in the neighborhoods of Santa Fe, Oak Park, Ivanhoe, and Palestine but welcomes anyone from other communities.

• Free after school programs for children and youth ages 5-18 (meals provided)

• Free group counseling for our youth

• Men's Fraternity Learning Group (ages 21 up)

• The Gathering KC: 13,127 SF renovated church building transformed into a versatile, accessible event venue.

Community Event Volunteers: Help with meal donations/service, parking, décor, set-up, clean-up, and other needs.

Volunteer Internships: Students seeking service hours are welcome to join us.

In-Kind Donations: We rely on volunteers to donate meals, snacks, gift cards, toys, coats, cleaning supplies, office supplies, and more for our programs.
