The Gathering KC is Kansas City’s newest non-profit event venue, thoughtfully transformed by The Hope Center in collaboration with local architects. A Preserve Missouri Awards winner and recipient of the 2025 Historic Preservation Award from Missouri Preservation, The Gathering KC is recognized for its excellence in adaptive reuse. Every event at The Gathering KC helps fund The Hope Center’s impact, with the goal of reinvesting in the East Side-KC to empower youth, families, and local neighborhoods.
The Hope Center KC is a Non-Profit Community and Youth Development Organization which aims to provide asset-based programs and opportunities for sustainable growth and development on Kansas City's east side to flourish. Our vision is to develop healthy communities where the vulnerable can have hope and flourish.
The Hope Center KC primarily serves children, youth and families in the neighborhoods of Santa Fe, Oak Park, Ivanhoe, and Palestine but welcomes anyone from other communities.
• Free after school programs for children and youth ages 5-18 (meals provided)

• Hope Family Care Center: provides quality primary healthcare in Kansas City's east side.
• Benton Community Garden: offers fresh vegetables and fruit for everyone in the community.
• Hope Leadership Academy: only neighborhood elementary school in our community.
• The Gathering KC: 13,127 SF renovated church building transformed into a versatile, accessible event venue.
• Built a state-of-the-art playground and outdoor basketball courts.

• Creative Volunteers: Experienced photographers, videographers, and designers to capture daily life and events.
• Serve Groups: Volunteer groups for yard work, maintenance, painting, admin tasks, and more. Let us know your skills!
• Community Event Volunteers: Help with meal donations/service, parking, décor, set-up, clean-up, and other needs.
• Volunteer Internships: Students seeking service hours are welcome to join us.
• In-Kind Donations: We rely on volunteers to donate meals, snacks, gift cards, toys, coats, cleaning supplies, office supplies, and more for our programs.
